About
Elizabeth is an NYC-based costume designer originally from the Washington, DC area. She has worked with a wide range of theaters in the DC-Baltimore region, and has received a Helen Hayes Award nomination for Outstanding Costume Design. She currently works as a sewing instructor at The New York Sewing Center, teaching lessons in sewing and embroidery.

Elizabeth has been sewing since she was 9 years old, and these skills allowed her to join and eventually lead the costume crew of her high school drama club. After studying theatre and public relations at American University, she apprenticed with Olney Theatre Center and Studio Theater, respectively, while simultaneously fostering a freelance costume design career in DC. She has costume designed over 25 productions and has helped construct for many more across a wide range of time periods. She has also worked on the wardrobe side, dressing and wigging actors at Olney Theater, Shakespeare Theatre Company, Arena Stage, and more.
Elizabeth is passionate about sustainability practices in both costume and fashion, employing advanced mending and alteration techniques to give all clothing as much life as she can, both on stage and off. When she isn’t sewing and upcycling, she loves to crochet and embroider.
